The Wooden Rooster

I stumbled upon a delightful gem during my recent culinary adventures in St. Pete: The Wooden Rooster. Truly, it’s one of those heartwarming local spots where every dish feels crafted with love!

Perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or even just a dessert fix, this cozy nook has a lot to offer. But if there’s one thing you absolutely must try here, it’s the crepes. As someone always on the hunt for the perfect crepe, I can wholeheartedly say that The Wooden Rooster delivers.

Their crepes are rich, filled generously, and come with a delicious variety. The option to transform these into a sandwich was a delightful twist I didn’t see coming!

While the crepes are the star, the Cuban sandwich took me by surprise. I wouldn’t have expected a spot known for its crepes to master this classic, but boy, was it tasty! It’s an absolute must-try for any sandwich enthusiast.

But wait, before I get too carried away, let’s talk sweet: the Pancrepe with Maple syrup & butter. It’s a sweet lover’s dream, and believe me when I say you won’t be leaving hungry. These crepes are packed!

What really sealed the deal for me, apart from the scrumptious food, was the impeccable service. It’s not every day you find a charming coffee bar that pairs so well with an expansive food menu.

So, if you’re ever in the area, The Wooden Rooster comes highly recommended. It’s a taste of St. Pete that’ll leave you craving for more!

Social Roost

150 1st Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, United States // +17272026113

My latest brunch outing led me to a delightful spot in St. Pete: Social Roost. The moment I walked in, I was taken by its cozy and chic atmosphere. Its size lends itself to a more intimate setting, which only adds to its charm.

The menu was a refreshing change from the typical brunch fare, striking the right balance of creativity without overwhelming choice. I was advised to try the Brunch Bowl and the Eggs Benedict, and oh boy, were those recommendations on point!

Each bite was a testament to how brunch classics can be elevated with just a touch of innovation. But the real star of the show? The apple-stuffed French toast.

Generously portioned and boasting crispy edges (just the way I adore), it was pure brunch bliss. However, I couldn’t leave without trying the chicken and waffles! The fusion of textures and flavors was simply divine.

Now, no brunch adventure of mine is complete without a cocktail, and Social Roost’s ‘Garden of Eden’ was the cherry on top. A refreshing concoction of rose, lemon, thyme, honey, and vodka, it’s the kind of drink that leaves an impression!

Social Roost served a brunch experience that marries tradition with innovation, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Tap Room at the Hollander Hotel

421 4th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, United States // +17278737900

When you think of hotel bars and restaurants, you may not always expect culinary surprises. But my recent visit to the Tap Room at the Hollander Hotel turned that notion right on its head!

The space buzzed with infectious energy, making it clear from the get-go that this was no ordinary hotel dining experience. Brunch was the order of the day, and their menu left me pleasantly surprised, not just with the delightful offerings but also with the reasonable pricing.

Now, brunch isn’t complete without a good cocktail, and their mixologists surely know their craft. Every sip was a testament to their expertise.

Among their delightful offerings, the custom scrambler stood out — an opportunity to have eggs scrambled just the way you like, with a choice of fantastic add-ons. And while I’ve tried grilled cheese so many times, the prosciutto grilled cheese here was truly something special!

The ambiance takes you on a journey. Historic photographs dot the walls, giving patrons a sense of the rich tapestry of stories that the hotel has witnessed over the years.

It feels less like a hotel bar and more like a cherished local tavern where friends meet and share stories.

Before heading out, a visit to their pastry counter is a must. Each treat seemed more tempting than the last, but the Florida orange cake? Pure perfection. A delightful end to an already memorable meal.

In St. Pete and craving a meal with character? The Tap Room at the Hollander Hotel awaits. And trust me, it’s worth every bite and sip.

Birch & Vine

340 Beach Dr. NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, United States // +17278961080

Brunch has always been that delightful meal where breakfast meets lunch, and at Birch & Vine, it’s nothing short of culinary magic! Nestled conveniently near the pier, this spot offers more than just a picturesque location; it’s a haven for food enthusiasts.

On my recent Sunday visit, I decided to dive right into the Breakfast Burger. This was a safe choice, so I had to pair it with something new to finish my meal.

I ordered the Tres Leche French toast sticks. Now, I’ve had my share of French toasts over the years, but these were a game-changer. Crispy on the outside with a delectable sweetness from the cinnamon-whipped mascarpone, it’s a dish that stays with you!

The menu’s variety truly shines with offerings like the Pecan roll and the Trifecta Eggs Benedict. But what truly sets Birch & Vine apart for me, beyond the mouthwatering food, is the attention to detail.

Take their mimosas, for instance. With a plethora of fruit options, it’s not your run-of-the-mill brunch drink. And at $15 for unlimited mimosas? It’s a steal! Special shoutout to our server, who made the experience seamless, ensuring our glasses were always full.

If your Sundays are about finding that perfect brunch spot to kick back and relish good food, Birch & Vine should be on your radar!

Thirsty First

119 1st Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, United States // +17273173333

A Saturday in St. Pete called for a brunch outing, and “Thirsty First” was my next destination! Now, while bottomless mimosas are an enticing lure for most, this place packs more than just a bubbly punch.

Navigating their menu is like a delightful culinary quest. From conventional brunch favorites to unique spins on classics, deciding what to order is a lovely dilemma.

My tastebuds were drawn to the rosemary honey cheddar biscuit, a savory delight that set the tone for what was to come. But the real showstopper? The chicken and waffles!

Drizzled with blue cheese and buffalo sauce, the pairing was an unexpected yet harmonious fusion. To round things off, their stuffed French toast was the proverbial cherry on top – an indulgence worth every bite.
