I’m grinning from ear to ear as I reminisce about my casual yet charming lunch at Cracker’s Bar & Grill, an irresistible gem among Crystal River’s waterfront restaurants.

After a thrilling morning of kayaking, my friend and I were on the hunt for a laid-back spot to refuel and relax. Cracker’s was just the ticket.

We were welcomed by a spacious waterfront bar and deck when we stepped into this casual Crystal River seafood restaurant. Instantly, we felt an inviting pull toward the outdoor seating, where almost every spot boasted a panoramic water view.

The establishment also offers convenient boat parking and an extra bar outside – talk about waterfront dining!

One glance at the daily drinks specials, and we were hooked. Who could resist a variety of beachy mixed cocktails? Not us, that’s for sure. As we sipped on our bucket-sized beverages, we soaked in the unique ambiance of the place – comfortable lighting, perfect indoor temperature, and the soothing hum of surrounding conversations.

Cajun Pasta

Ready for our gastronomic adventure, we shared the blackened seafood basket with a side salad.

Each bite was an explosion of flavors, perfectly complemented by the most amazing sweet potato fries

Just when we thought things couldn’t get better, we indulged in the Tuxedo Bomb for dessert, and let’s just say it was love at first bite.

Our attentive and pleasant wait staff added to the memorable experience. We were so satisfied with our lunch that we resolved to return the next evening.

And, oh, what an evening it was! We found ourselves back on the deck, this time feasting on the Cajun Pasta, and it was every bit as superb as we had hoped.

Our table offered a beautiful view of the water, making us wish it were winter just so we could spot manatees seeking warmer waters.

Overall, Cracker’s Bar & Grill left an indelible impression on our hearts and taste buds. If you’re ever looking for a waterside restaurant in Crystal River, trust me, this is one you don’t want to miss.

Charlie’s Fish House Restaurant

224 NW US-19, Crystal River, FL 34428, United States // +13527953949

Pull up a chair and let me transport you to Charlie’s Fish House Restaurant, a delightful dockside gem in the heart of Crystal River.

This casual, family-owned eatery, complete with its own adjacent fish market, effortlessly became one of the highlights of my Florida culinary adventure.

I was immediately charmed by the nautical theme and the stunning water views. A sense of tranquility washed over me as I watched seagulls amusingly slide down the tin roof. The atmosphere was lively yet serene, making it the perfect place to unwind.

We were promptly seated and greeted by our server, who was as friendly as he was efficient. With no delay, our drink orders were taken, and it was onto the appetizers.

We couldn’t resist the allure of the conch fritters, and boy, were we right! Though small, each bite was a tasty treasure of flavors that set the bar high for the main course.

Lobster Bisque

Our main course was a lobster bisque soup and a smoked mullet dip, a decision that turned out to be gastronomically rewarding.

The bisque was a thick, luscious concoction teeming with chunks of tender lobster – so much so you could eat it with a fork! And let’s not leave out the clam chowder – creamy, spicy, and packed with more clams than potatoes, just the way I like it.

Across the table, my friend savored the shrimp chef salad, another crowd-pleaser. Though we had our fill, we were already plotting a return visit to Charlie’s before we even left.

And, if you can, snag a spot at the railing out back. As you dine, you’ll have a front-row seat to the spectacle of myriad fish swimming in the crystal-clear water.

All in all, Charlie’s Fish House Restaurant is a charming stop for lunch or dinner when in Crystal River. Don’t just take my word for it; try it out and thank me later!

Next up, tucked away in Crystal River, right by the water, is a seafood lover’s paradise named The Crab Plant.

This eatery, adjacent to a seafood market, immediately caught my attention with its straightforward, no-frills decor. But don’t be fooled; what it lacks in pomp, it more than makes up for in the freshness and flavor of its seafood offerings.

I couldn’t resist the allure of this waterside venue when I stumbled upon it during my lunchtime exploration.

And oh, how glad I am that I did! With a cold beer in one hand, a selection of wines to choose from, and a fantastic view to boot, the place was already off to a great start.

Fish sandwich

It was the menu, however, that had me swooning. A wide variety of locally caught seafood was offered, and deciding what to get was the sweetest dilemma.

We kicked off our seafood feast with an order of medium Stone Crab, six succulent pieces for $28.99 that were as fresh as they were sweet. What a delightful start!

As for the main course, I indulged in a Red Snapper sandwich served with fries, while my friend chose Grouper with potato salad

Both sandwiches, generously portioned and served on fresh ciabatta rolls, were mouthwateringly good. Our server was attentive throughout, answering all our queries with a smile.

As I sat back, satiated, and took in the lovely view, I knew I had stumbled upon an amazing waterfront restaurant in Crystal River.

Fish Taco

As the sun descended, casting an orange glow across the water, I enjoyed a plate of the most fantastic coconut shrimp

The appetizer came with a spicy sauce that had a real kick to it – a delightful contrast to the sweet, crispy shrimp.

My main course was a well-crafted fish taco, loaded with fresh, flaky fish and packed full of flavor.

Meanwhile, my friends raved about the Chowder, Pork wings, Old Bay peel um shrimp, and a large salad

Although a bit on the pricey side, the quality of the food and the unbeatable view made it worth every penny.

Our culinary escapade was made even better by the restaurant’s back room, with its windows overlooking the property and the water beyond.

It’s truly the perfect spot to watch the sunset. And once the sun dipped below the horizon, we discovered that the bar area transformed into a lively hub on Friday nights.
