The 5 Best Restaurants For Pizza In Bar Harbor
Rosalie’s Pizza
46 Cottage St., Bar Harbor, ME 04609, the United States // +12072885666
This family-run, seasonal business has been making 7″, 14″, 17″, and 19″ pies from scratch since 1981, in take-out, dine-in, build-your-own, thin crust, or double dough. There are so many unique possibilities!
It’s not only the best pizza in Bar Harbor but also some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. Every time we passed, people were waiting for their lunch. Our order was ready approximately 30 minutes after we called.
The calzone was ordinary and little more like a Stromboli, with no ricotta. The pizza was delicious. The thin, chewy crust, cheese, and seasoning are all delicious.
One of their five specialty pies is highly recommended. Consider Rosie’s Choice, with spinach, mushrooms, garlic, and olive oil. Divine.
Pat’s Pizza
6 Pleasant St., Bar Harbor, ME 04609, the United States // +12072885117
Pat’s has been serving their famous pies at its 15 locations across Maine since 1931, becoming a true institution for generations of Maine pizza lovers.
With a cozy, tavern-style ambiance and a complete bar, many people prefer to eat their pies on-site, particularly during the long winter months when a little laughing and fellowship is required.
Their pies are available in 9″ and 14″ sizes, and several of their specialty pizzas are also available in calzone style. Their Taco Pizza is a huge hit, with all your favorite taco toppings layered onto a fresh pizza crust. It was delicious and not greasy at all, which I appreciated.
Pat’s is also recognized for giving customers the choice of choosing how “done” they want their pizza, “Cook light,” “Crispy,” or “Well done.” Genius!
Furthermore, the prices are reasonable. I will undoubtedly return. I definitely recommend this restaurant; it is well worth the walk or drive.
West Eden Pizza
1319 ME-102, Bar Harbor, ME 04609, United States // +12078019335
This year-round, take-out-only neighborhood staple serves nine signature gourmet pizzas and a build-your-own option. Salads, hot and cold subs, and—wait for it—a changing array of handcrafted whoopie pies are all on the menu at West Eden.
I’m so glad I discovered this hidden gem of a family-owned and operated pizza parlor on the quiet side of MDI! Their pizza has a delicious crust, sauce, and high-quality toppings. There’s something for everyone, with nine different types of meat, ten different vegetables, anchovies, and everything you need to make just about any gourmet pizza you can think of. A gluten-free crust is also available, as are tomato sauce options like pesto or white sauce.
In addition to pizza, they serve a variety of hot and cold sandwiches and three salads. Again, prices are pleasantly low for this area and will not break the bank.
Reel Pizza Cinerama
33 Kennebec Pl., Bar Harbor, ME 04609, the United States // +12072883828
Whoever thought of merging a restaurant and a cinema deserves an award—and Reel Pizza takes it up a notch with their incredible menu of specialty pizzas, all accessible year-round (take-out only in the off-season).
I saw that A Star Is Born was showing at this local theater and decided to attend. First and foremost, the film is fantastic, and Lady Gaga delivers an incredible performance, but the star of the evening was this tiny cinema theater. Only $7 for a ticket was a steal, and the meal costs were reasonable, with above-average pizza.
Couches and old-fashioned TV trays are available in the first several rows of the cinema. We liked it so much that we went back the next night to see a different movie (The Dawn Wall). It’s unquestionably a must-see while in Bar Harbor.
The food at Reel Pizza is equally delicious indoors or outdoors, and they offer craft beer and wine by the glass. Their menu ranges from soups to salads to nachos and side dishes, but it’s really all about their pizzas.
My favorite is the Manchurian Candidate (pies are named after movies), with peanut sauce, mozzarella, carrots, scallions, and choice of chicken or tofu. If you’re looking for the themed restaurant serving great pizza in Bar Harbor, this is it.
Blaze Pizza Bar Harbor
198 Main St., Bar Harbor, ME 04609, the United States // +12078012755
Blaze is another year-round option, offering an eclectic selection of elevated pub fare, including its signature, wood-fired pizzas.
It’s hard to choose my favorite pie, but I would have to say the Blaze BBQ pie, which contains Blaze BBQ sauce, Blaze Meat Company cheddar wurst, pickled jalapeno, red onion, Pineland Farms smoked cheddar, and sriracha aioli. Combine that with a Blaze Beet salad and a local microbrew, and you’re on fire.
Our bartenders were courteous and enthusiastic about their brews. We didn’t get a terrible recommendation. Also, try the peanut butter or s’mores stouts if you haven’t already.
I had a great time getting away from the overcrowded streets of Bar Harbor. Cozy patio pub with fantastic food and drink and excellent company!
