From start to finish, my dining experience at Takumi was nothing short of exceptional.

The menu at Takumi is a testament to their dedication to Japanese cuisine. With a focus on traditional flavors and contemporary twists, their offerings cater to both adventurous food enthusiasts and those seeking familiar favorites. The extensive sushi selection showcased an impressive array of fresh and expertly crafted rolls, each bursting with flavor and carefully presented.

The Salmon Skin salad had deep flavors with bits of Takuan, and the Unagi Don, which was a large bowl of steamed white rice topped with fillets of eel grilled in a style known as Kabayaki,  was rich and bold in flavor.

One standout dish that I must mention is their miso-marinated black cod. The succulent fish was delicately cooked to perfection, its flaky texture complemented by the rich umami of the miso marinade. Every bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that left me craving more.

The beverage selection at Takumi was equally impressive, with an extensive sake list and a variety of Japanese-inspired cocktails. The sake flights allowed me to sample different flavors and discover new favorites, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal.

Frenchish, nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Nob Hill in Albuquerque, is a delightful dining treat that I recently had the pleasure of experiencing. 

From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for a truly remarkable dining adventure.

The ambiance of Frenchish exudes an elegant yet inviting atmosphere. The stylish decor, with its sleek lines and contemporary touches, creates a modern backdrop that perfectly complements the culinary delights to come. 

Now, let’s talk about the star of the show—the food. Frenchish showcases a masterful blend of French and American cuisines, resulting in a menu that is both innovative and comforting. 

I decided on the Devilish eggs, which had a touch of zing and were wonderful. I then had the steak tartare; it was amazing. 

One standout dish that deserves special mention is the seared foie gras with a port wine reduction. The foie gras was exquisitely cooked to a melt-in-your-mouth perfection, its rich and buttery flavor beautifully complemented by the tangy sweetness of the port wine reduction. It was a symphony of flavors that left me wanting more.

Having recently experienced a meal at this charming establishment, I can confidently say that it offers a memorable and enjoyable dining experience.

Stepping into Monte Vista Fire Station is like taking a step back in time. Housed in a historic building that was once an active fire station, the restaurant has retained much of its original character, incorporating vintage firehouse memorabilia and décor throughout. The brick walls, exposed beams, and distinctive architectural elements create an inviting and nostalgic atmosphere that pays homage to the building’s rich history.

The menu at Monte Vista Fire Station features a delightful fusion of flavors, with a focus on American cuisine with Southwestern influences. 

From starters to desserts, each dish is thoughtfully prepared and showcases the chef’s creativity and commitment to quality. Having recently dined at Scalo, I can confidently say that it stands out as a must-visit Nob Hill restaurant for those seeking a blend of authentic Italian food in Albuquerque, a cozy ambiance, and impeccable service.

From the moment you enter Scalo, you are greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant’s rustic yet elegant decor, with its exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and soft lighting, creates an intimate and charming setting. 

The menu at Scalo reflects the essence of Italian cuisine, showcasing a variety of dishes that highlight traditional flavors and techniques. From homemade pasta to wood-fired pizzas and flavorful seafood creations, the options are plentiful and cater to a range of palates. 

The tomato bisque was very hearty with the touch of bacon, and the edible flower was a nice touch. The lightly buttered bread paired well with it too. The lamb chops were served medium rare with a creamy, buttery sauce and pomegranate on top. 

One dish that truly stood out during my visit was the house-made gnocchi. These delicate potato dumplings were perfectly cooked and bathed in a rich, velvety sauce that harmoniously balanced flavors of tomato, garlic, and fresh herbs. Each bite was a celebration of Italian comfort food at its finest, leaving a lasting impression.
