Paso Robles is a picturesque city along the Central Coast in San Luis Obispo County. It is known for its thriving wine industry, with over 300 wineries and 32,000 acres of planted grapes. It was just named the winner of USA Today’s Best Wine Region, surpassing numerous renowned regions across the United States. Paso Robles, although wine-centric, has so much more to offer.
It is home to British artist Bruce Munro’s Light at Sensorio outdoor art exhibit, a fantastic visitor experience, and the California Mid-State Fair. It has recently been deemed California’s new culinary capital by the Michelin Guide. And if you are not a wine aficionado but love seasonal cocktails, we now have 13 distilleries.
Its scenic beauty of oak-studded rolling hills and expansive vineyards makes Paso Robles the destination to unwind and explore. And while here, enjoy the many creative restaurants serving breakfast and brunch in town.
I have lived in Paso for twenty years and owned a successful farm-to-table restaurant, Thomas Hill Organics, for fourteen years. I developed a refined palate and am now considered a respected food and wine connoisseur locally and abroad.
My list of the top spots for brunch and best breakfast in Paso Robles is based on the quality of the food, the taste, the presentation, and the excellent service. Creativity plays a part, but sometimes you can’t beat a basic egg and bacon breakfast. So not fancy, just damn good!
Where to Find the Best Breakfast In Paso Robles?
Joe’s Place
305 Spring St, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States // +18052385637
The most popular breakfast stop in Paso Robles is Joe’s Place at the corner of 3rd and Spring. Celebrating 28 years of serving hearty breakfasts to locals and tourists, this inviting establishment captures the soul of an ideal morning experience.
The comfortable and welcoming atmosphere makes you feel at home at Joe’s. The menu is a delightful combination of comfort foods and classic dishes.
From the classic American of two eggs, crispy bacon or sausage, hash brown or home fries, toast to fluffy pancakes and french toast served as is or with bacon or sausage.

And, of course, there are Joe’s favorites to choose from, huevos rancheros, chorizo, and eggs or chilaquiles with scrambled eggs, cheese, and ranchero sauce. I tried the eggs benedict smothered with a bearnaise sauce that was irresistibly creamy, buttery, rich, and a tad sweet.
My friend went with the all- american basic; poached eggs with crispy bacon and hash browns.
You have got to try their good old-fashioned crispy hash browns, light, and just enough oil.
Joe’s food is always consistently good, and the service is friendly and efficient. Be prepared for a line on the weekend. If Joe Ontiveros, the owner, is in the kitchen, he often shouts out to departing guests, “Thank you, fellow Americans.” Dine at Joe’s Place and celebrate the genuine tastes of American comfort food.
Cello Ristorante & Bar
2700 Buena Vista Dr #102, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States // +18053692503
The Cello Ristorante & Bar is an upscale, casual Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and bar tucked inside the Allegretto Vineyard Resort. Here’s why it has one of the best breakfast in Paso Robles.
The resort offers luxurious accommodations and a refuge from the pressures of everyday life. The resort was named by USA Today as the #3 Best Wine Country Hotel in the United States. I highly recommend spending two days at this heavenly resort enjoying its art tours, vineyard tours, olive oil tasting, or a day at the spa.
The Cello Ristorantes dining room opens onto a lovely patio with iron fire bowls and bocce ball courts. Eating alfresco at this lovely resort is an enchanting experience.
We decided to do this since we learned Cello Ristorante had a Sunday Buffet Brunch service. I couldn’t wait to try their new chef, Jeremy Fike’s, menu.
Inspired by the abundance of fresh local provisions, and the Tuscan-like ambiance of the resort, Chef Fike has created unique menus that reflect both the Central Coast and central Italy. The brunch buffet at Cello was an extraordinary culinary experience.
There were various proteins with different spices, flavors, and textures. Housemade sauces accompanied the different meats.
I loved the carving station with the prime rib, juicy, tender, and marbled with fat. I slathered the housemade mascarpone horseradish onto the prime rib and tried it on the chicken.
We couldn’t resist the impressive fresh seafood display. Plump oysters, glistening shrimp cocktail, and buttery crab legs all on a bed of crushed ice radiating freshness.
We also sampled each housemade pastry; my favorite was the chocolate croissant, which was light, flaky, and chocolatey good.
With the buffet, you get a complimentary mimosa. We opted for the passion fruit mimosa, a unique blend of sour and sweet deliciousness. Ending the meal with a cappuccino, a perfect balance of espresso, steamed milk, and foam.
Besides a killer buffet, if you are looking for unique dinner options, Cello Ristorante introduced “Chef Giardino,” a family-style menu.
The “Chef Giardino” culinary experience is Tuscan Tuesdays, Paella Wednesdays, and Pasta e Vine Italiano Feast Thursdays. Experiences presenting an abundant culinary legacy.
Whenever I visit the Allegretto Vineyard Resort for brunch or dinner, I regret not spending the day at this luxurious resort. With the beautiful vineyard, gardens, wine tasting, and spa, I see a stay vacation soon.
Thomas Hill Organics
Downtown, 1313 Park St, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States // +18052265888
Thomas Hill Organics is recognized as one of the restaurants for best breakfast in Paso Robles. As the locals call it, THO, features locally sourced ingredients to create their menu. They offer great ambiance dining al fresco, delicious farm-to-table cuisine, and excellent service. They have my vote for one of the best brunch restaurants in Paso Robles.
A recent review stated, “A block from the center of town, Thomas Hill Organics is a gem of a find.” From its locally sourced breakfast items, Los Osos Ranch farm fresh eggs, bread from the Back Porch Bakery, and handcrafted cheese from The Creamery, THO utilizes local artisans for their brunch menu.
We went all out on our visit and ordered three mains. That night, I dreamt about the overnight waffle with berry cream, fresh berries, and applewood bacon.
The yeast ingredient makes for a crispy outer texture and a soft interior, and I couldn’t get enough of the berry cream. The French omelet, a classic, was golden brown with a creamy soft interior.
Thomas Hill Organics brunch smoked salmon has poached eggs, watermelon radish, pickled onion, and carrot sambal.
The flavors meld to create an irresistible masterpiece. Try these brunch entrees with an espresso, latte, or seasonal bellini.
With its beautiful covered outdoor patio, emphasis on seasonally sourced ingredients, and the creativity of each dish Thomas Hill is a place not to be missed on your visit.
Brunch
840 13th St, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States // +18052963616
Named one of the top 100 brunch spots in California by Yelp, Brunch is one of my favorites for breakfast. Although called “Brunch,” they serve breakfast seven days a week. Their menu is compact, but there is something delicious for everyone, even vegetarians.
Located downtown in a small space, be prepared for a wait on the weekends. A sense of warmth and vibrancy welcomes you. The owner, Brooke Johnson, has brought a LA hipster ambiance to this restaurant.
The menu is creatively designed around seasonal ingredients. They have three breakfast pizzas to choose from, and never having experienced one, I went all American with the Bacon Breakfast Pizza with two sunny-side-up eggs. The crust was delightful and cooked perfectly and did not overpower the toppings.
We also ordered the Chorizo Breakfast Street Tacos, a smoky and slightly sweet flavor that impressed your taste buds! Loads of flavor and plenty of cheese. And the housemade tortillas are thick, slightly earthy corn goodness.
This is an exceptional spot for one of the best breakfast in Paso Robles with a unique menu and excellent service. Brunch is truly a breakfast haven.
Brothers Cafe 316
1487 Creston Rd, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States // +18053692184
Brothers Cafe is anything but a “cafe” selling light meals and drinks. They have an extensive breakfast menu, including egg specialties like Louisiana sausage and eggs and house favorites like Carnitas Chilaquiles, not to mention omelets, French toast, crepes, pancakes, and waffles. No wonder it was even crowded on a Wednesday.
This cafe is in a shopping center seven minutes from downtown Paso Robles. Warm, welcoming, and family-friendly, Brothers Cafe is a favorite spot for locals. With its unassuming decor, it is cherished by locals who appreciate its simplicity but love the delicious hearty meals with no frills.
I asked the server to recommend what I should order, and he immediately said our Chilaquiles. For history buffs, chilaquiles date back centuries to the early Aztecs.
They are all about contrasting textures, crispy chips, and a velvety sauce, and the cheese and sour cream or crema should add a smooth and creamy component. Well, Brothers Cafe delivers on all of these.
I am told their hashbrowns are the best, buttery and golden brown, always hot and fresh. I am a Joe’s Place hashbrown girl, but I am willing to try them next time.
I promise you won’t go hungry after eating here; the portions are very generous. I took half of my chilaquiles home and had them for dinner.
In a place where trendy and showy restaurants are the scene, Brothers Cafe 316 is a hidden gem. On the way out, resist buying one of their housemade cinnamon rolls. No wonder it has one of the best breakfast in Paso Robles.
La Cosecha Bar & Restaurant
835 12th St, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States // +18052370019
One of the best overall experiences for brunch was at La Cosecha Bar & Restaurant. Under new owners Matthew and Eric Carfagnini, the transition was seamless.
They hit on all four qualities of a great brunch restaurant; quality of the food, the taste, the presentation, and the excellent service. Plus, they have live music and craft cocktails.
La Cosecha Bar & Restaurant is located in the downtown square. They have a small outdoor bar that overlooks the park where we were seated. We wanted to engage in people-watching while enjoying the music and our brunch.
The Latin flavors of Spain and South America influence the cuisine. The ceviche de Dia, Pastelitos Catracho, and Paella of the day are perfect examples of this influence. They also have a selection of stone-fired pizzas, which I am told have a tender yet crisp crust, just like I like.
I ordered the Huevos Espanol, three poached eggs, ham, and housemade brioche with a decadent Manchego cheese fondue. It was a culinary masterpiece.
My friend ordered French Toast with walnuts, bananas, and maple syrup. The caramelized bananas added a sweet, chewy, and sinfully good taste.
I was thrilled they offered espresso drinks. We both had cappuccinos, a rare treat at most breakfast places in Paso Robles. The gentleman next to us ordered a Bloody Mary, and it looked like a salad it was so full of vegetables.
La Cosecha Bar & Restaurant promises to exceed your expectations for Sunday brunch and it definitely has one of the best breakfast in Paso Robles.
Music, cocktails, Latin-inspired cuisine, and excellent service will leave an everlasting impression on you as it did for us. It’s definitely has one of the best breakfast in Paso Robles.
Sunrise Cafe
1413 Riverside Ave, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States // +18052864297
The Sunrise Cafe is off the beaten path a few blocks from downtown in the Scandia Square shopping center. The cafe has eight indoor tables and a few picnic tables outside. Despite its humble size and minimalistic decor, I was impressed with this culinary hideaway.
The staff, consisting of family, was warm and friendly, creating an atmosphere of genuine warmth. Country music is playing in the background as locals fill the tables. The menu is a delightful blending of Mexican and American dishes.
Friends suggested we try this out-of-the-way hidden cafe. I went on social media to see which breakfast items were the most adored.
Their burrito was the number one choice, and I must admit it was the best burrito I have had, filled with bacon, delicious potatoes, fluffy eggs, and cheddar cheese.
The Sunrise Breakfast Sandwich was a showstopper, loaded with grilled sliced ham, cheddar cheese, onion, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, two over-easy eggs, and wait for it…peanut butter and jelly and mustard on grilled whole wheat bread. All of this for $10.99!
As you leave the Sunrise Cafe with a full belly, you are grateful to have uncovered this unpretentious cafe. A true haven for foodies who do not need a lavish environment to have a satisfying dining experience.
Springside Restaurant
1646 Spring St, Paso Robles, CA 93446, United States // +18052382629
Springside Restaurant is a charming house-turned-restaurant located in Paso Robles. As you step inside, you are immediately greeted by a friendly server. The warm and comfortable atmosphere, and modest decor, encourage you to relax and enjoy.
The food is simple, yet they have many delightful breakfast options. Several French toast options and pancake options, not to mention nine omelets to choose from.
I was told I must try their Danish Abelskiver, ball-shaped Pancakes served with Danish sausage from Solvang. Unfortunately, they were not on the menu.
We opted for the Apricot French Toast, apricot preserves, and whipped cream layered between sourdough bread. A sweet and salty, creamy, crunchy delight! The bacon was exceptional, sweet, and salty with just the right crunch.
We also tried classic and comforting with two poached eggs, bacon, and a side of fruit. Always a delicious and practical choice.
The eggs were cooked perfectly, and again the bacon was spot on. The side of fruit was a very generous portion and a delightful addition to the meal.
The staff at Springside Restaurant was very attentive, and the prices were attractive. Overall, a comfortable restaurant with good food and an enjoyable dining experience that has one of the best breakfast in Paso Robles.
