Texas Cattle Company
735 East Main Street, Lakeland, FL 33801 // 863-686-1434
From the grove to the grill, this family-owned steakhouse uses a unique local grilling technique where the steaks are cooked over citrus and oak wood. The Florida orange and oak trees are cut down and the wood is used to cook these select USDA three-year-old grain-fed beef steaks to perfection.

The moment I stepped inside, the smoky aroma of oak and citrus wood mingling with sizzling steak instantly awakened my appetite. Make sure to call ahead for a reservation, because this spot fills up fast. Once seated, I settled into a warm ambiance and started my meal with a glass of Moscato.
One of my favorite soups was on the menu, Shrimp and Lobster Bisque. It was the perfect way to kick off the meal, creamy and indulgent with just the right balance of seafood richness.
As for the main event, the menu offers a variety of premium cuts to satisfy every steak lover. My final decision? A tough call between the Petite Filet Mignon and the 22 oz Cattle Baron Ribeye. This time, the ribeye won, perfectly seared and paired with Red Skin Mashed Potatoes.

Every entrée comes with a bottomless bowl of House Salad and warm, buttery Garlic Cheese Bread—but fair warning, it’s so good you’ll have to remind yourself to save room for dessert.
Speaking of dessert, the Plant City Strawberry Cake is a must-try. Oh, and here’s a little secret—word on the street is, you might just get a free steak on your birthday. Sounds like a great reason to celebrate, right?
For steakhouse lovers and foodies alike, put Texas Cattle Company on your agenda when you visit Lakeland.
The Joinery

This is Food Hall Heaven. If you can’t decide what to eat, The Joinery is the perfect solution. This trendy food hall features a variety of local vendors offering everything from artisan tacos and ramen to craft beer and gourmet burgers. Grab a seat, try a little bit of everything, and soak in the lively atmosphere.
While visiting The Joinery in Lakeland, I had the delightful surprise of experiencing the 43rd Annual Lakeland Christmas Parade, themed “Christmas at Swan Lake.” The floats, adorned with festive lights and decorations, celebrated iconic Lakeland landmarks, casting a warm holiday glow across the cheering crowds.
As the parade passed by, I indulged in a waffle cone from Mayday Handcrafted Ice Cream, savoring each bite while taking in the vibrant atmosphere.

With flavors like Mint Monster, Parent Trap, Queen Salted Caramel, Session Chocolate, Strawberry Fields, Coffee and Donuts, Cookie Crush, Gillespie’s Bourbon Pecan, and Blueberry Toast Crunch, the biggest challenge was deciding which to try first. Thankfully, the long line gave me plenty of time to make that delicious decision.
Lakeland’s holiday spirit and local flavors truly made the evening unforgettable, offering a perfect blend of tradition, community, and indulgence.
215 E Main St, Lakeland, FL 33801 // 863-688-1961
I had a birthday dinner to remember at Lakeland’s Nineteen 61!
For a luxurious fine dining experience where modern Spanish flavors meet Latin American flair, Nineteen 61 is the ultimate destination. It was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday, especially since I was born in 1961—a serendipitous match that made the evening even more special. From the moment I walked in, I was treated like a VIP, with a complimentary dessert, a handwritten card, and a personal visit from the chef.
Since it was my first visit, I was also welcomed with a complimentary glass of champagne, setting the tone for an evening of indulgence. My friendly and knowledgeable server guided me through the menu, recommending the Signature 1961 Salad, a refreshing combination of artisan lettuce, aged Manchego, baby Swiss, and manzanilla olives tossed in their signature house dressing.

Next came the Empanadas, a perfectly flaky, golden-fried pastry filled with rich beef picadillo, served with a bold Rocoto hot sauce and a delicate dusting of powdered sugar, a surprising yet irresistible contrast of flavors.
And for the grand finale? Crème Brûlée. The moment my spoon cracked through the caramelized sugar crust, revealing the silky-smooth vanilla custard beneath, I knew I had chosen the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal.
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in exceptional cuisine, Nineteen 61 delivers a dining experience that lingers long after the last bite.

You missed IL Forno italian restaurant. In my opinion one of the best restaurants in Lakeland. It is far and above better than some of those you listed. However, 1961 does sound intriguing.

How in the world did The Bay Street Bistro get left off this list or even Harry's?
