Rome, the capital of Italy, is a symbol of ancient history, a synonym for love, and a center of many cultural happenings. Through the years, Rome became one of the most popular tourist destinations because of its warm Italian hospitality, incredible Italian food, and classic architecture.
We are here to talk little bit about the history, about the places you can visit in Rome and of course, the best Rome rooftop Bars.
Rome has 280 fountains and more than 900 churches. One of the most famous fountains is “Fontana di Trevi” which collects more than 700,000 euros worth of coins tossed inside by visitors. All of this money is, of course, donated to charity.
If you love cats, you must know that a law in Rome allows cats to live without disruption in the place they were born. So wild cats are climbing the walls of the Colosseum and sleeping in the ruins of the Forum. Cats have been in Rome since ancient times, and the Italians absolutely adore them.
Another fact that Rome is so famous is for having a country within a city. Vatican City, the capital of the Roman Catholic church, is the smallest country in the world and lies within the boundaries of the city of Rome. While Vatican City is a tourist destination on its own, most visitors combine seeing the sights of Vatican City with their trip to the Italian capital.
Besides St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, Basilica Papale San Paolo Fuori le Mura is the second largest church in Rome. The church was built in honor of the apostle Paul and was originally constructed during the time of emperor Constantine.
The Colosseum is one of the most visited attractions in the world. In 2018, over seven million people visited The Colosseum, going inside this huge amphitheater to witness the windowed façade and to picture the crowd of 80,000 Romans sitting in a circular formation watching the battle of the gladiators. It is interesting how it changed from being a gladiatorial ring to a fortress and place of religious worship.
The Roman Forum, once the government center of the City of Rome, the Pantheon, and the Spanish steps are also some of the things that attract tourists from around the world.
Lastly, Rome, as well as other cities in Italy, is best known for its exceptional food and wine. There is a special museum in Rome dedicated to pasta. While in Rome, make sure you eat where the locals eat because that is where you will experience the original Italian dishes.
Besides eating, there are many places for a night out and drinking. The best way to experience Rome’s nightlife and enjoy a breathtaking view is to visit one of the best Rome rooftop bars we have chosen for you.

The 8 Best Rome Rooftop Bars
Mùn Rooftop Cocktail Bar
P.za dell’Esquilino, 1, 00185 Roma RM, Italy // +390645774500
On the top of the Hilton Hotel is one of the fanciest Rome Rooftop Bars, offering a breathtaking view, a great cocktail selection, and small bites. The service is so welcoming and warm-hearted – and it went above and beyond to make our Rome experience very special.
Although there is not a full view of the city, the space is lovely, and if you pick the right seats, there is a nice view of the nearby Basilica. Cocktails are amazing, and their wine list is as well; the food menu is not extensive, but everything is tasty.
I strongly recommend their signature cocktail, “Ollin,” with tequila, lime, kombucha, and passion fruit. The taste is so refreshing and unique. For a light dinner, choose the calamari with lime sauce and pair them with a nice glass of bubbles. First on our list of eight, this is one of the best rooftop bars in Rome.

Roof Garden & Bar
Via Giovanni Vitelleschi, 34, 00193 Roma RM, Italy // +3906686386
Located in the Atlante Star Hotel, one of our favorite Rome Rooftop Bars and terrace offers a magnificent view of St. Peter’s Dome. The view is 360 degrees over Rome, from the Vatican Museums to the Astronomical Observatory of Monte Mario, the Villa Borghese Park to Villa Medici, up to Piazza Venezia.
All the classic cocktails are available with a pinch of their own creativity. For example, I enjoyed an “Improved Vermouth Cocktail” with rose vermouth, white lily, Pernod Ricard, Bitter Angostura, and honey. There is also an enormous list of many local wines you should try.
Dippers with cheese and pepper, beef tartare, spring rolls, oysters, scampi and caviar plates, scallops and strawberries plate, tuna and ginger soup, and many other bites are on the menu to pair your drink with.
Spend your time during the golden hour slip between drinks, finger food, and bubbles and create a memorable Rome rooftop bar experience.
Tiziano Terrace Rooftop & Cocktail Bar
Via Cavour, n. 185, 00184 Roma RM, Italy // +3906480231
The recently opened panoramic terrace and cocktail bar in Rome, Tiziano Terrace by Monti Palace Hotel, is located on the top floor with a 180-degree view of the Monti district.
The service is impeccable. The drinks are pricy, but the view and complimentary snacks are totally compensating for that. This place is a hidden gem for a date or catching up with friends for aperitivo.
Although there is plenty of cocktails on their menu, I chose the classic dry martini. Made with gin and vermouth and served with an olive, this is one of my lifetime favorites. The beverage list is so long that you need more time to read it and decide what to order.
Up Sunset Bar
Via del Tritone, 61, 00187 Roma RM, Italy // +390669922284
You will be greeted with cocktails and Mediterranean bites in one of the most stylish Rome Rooftop Bars venues with a sunny terrace offering panoramic views. The Aperol Spritz with this view is just perfect for a romantic date night or a simple getaway with your friends on a busy day.
This is a recommended place if you want good cocktails with a view for your Instagram shots. If you want drinks, they’ll give you a table at the top, but if you want to eat, you’ll get a table on the terrace below. Drinks are delicious and come with complimentary snacks, like olives, chips, and little croutons.
My personal favorites are their champagne cocktails and the classic Aperol Spritz. I saw they have an extensive beverage selection, and next time, I will try some of them.
For lunch, I recommend one of their pizzas. They are incredibly delicious and cheesy. Besides pizza, there are also burgers, sandwiches, salads, fish, and many more items on the food menu.
Otium Roof Bar
Via d’Aracoeli, 11, 00186 Roma RM, Italy // +390640410547
The Otium Roof Bar is located on the hotel’s terrace of the same name, a stone’s throw from Piazza Venezia, in Via D’Aracoeli 11. The location offers a 360° view of Rome, from which you can enjoy, among other things, the Vittoriano, the Campidoglio, and the Tempio Maggiore. The bar is open from 4 pm to 11 pm, and the staff is very attentive and helpful.
Fantastic cocktails are served to supplement a great view over the city. The staff is friendly and attentive. Free bar snacks were served at the table. Cocktails are a bit pricey, but it was a delightful experience. They have a special breakfast menu with all kinds of pastries, and you can pair your omelet or fruit bowl with a glass of Mimosa.
Plenty of classic cocktails are available on the menu, such as Bloody Mary, Cosmopolitan, and Long Island, all of which are made with fresh ingredients and edible flowers. If you choose this place as your rooftop bar in Rome, you will not go wrong.
Ambrosia Rooftop Restaurant & Bar
Via Nazionale, 22/Int.B, 00184 Roma RM, Italy // +390648991763
If you want hand-crafted cocktails and high-end Italian food at a Roman rooftop bar with picture windows and a terrace for city views, this is the place you should visit.
The stunning decor throughout the hotel and spacious restaurant provides a very romantic setting. The menu provides some unique and unusual taste combinations with a fantastic dark chocolate sponge dessert baked to order.
Their food menu is pretty extensive for a rooftop bar in Rome, and you can choose from classic Italian dishes to some international food. My favorite is seafood pasta, but I haven’t tried anything else from their menu, so I have to visit them one more time.
There are plenty of cocktails available at the bar and many quality local wines, which makes a choice even harder. If you are a wine lover, give them a chance to Italian wines; they are simply amazing!
Cielo Terrace
Via Sistina, 69, 00187 Roma RM, Italy // +390697793716
A classic Roman cocktail bar with incredible food and an even better view. This is the perfect place for a crazy night out with friends or a romantic dinner with your partner.
The service is perfect, and the staff is so accommodating and friendly. They will make your experience special, and their knowledge of wine is impressive.
Their antipasti are out of this world! Try out their scallops with Roman cauliflower and chili pepper and the beef tartare with sea urchins, mayonnaise, and misticanza salad. The lentil soup with shellfish is heartwarming and delicious.
To feel the real Italian charm, I recommend the classic Ravioli alla Carbonara for the main dish. There are also plenty of vegan options, such as baked sweet potato, which is considered a side dish, but if you are not very hungry, it is perfect to pair with your cocktail.
Rooftop Spritzeria Monti
Via dei Serpenti, 108, 00184 Roma RM, Italy // +393397157636
This restaurant offers small plates with a trendy rooftop cocktail on a terrace with city views. The menu is small (all spritzes) through creative. Some are a little pricey, but you can also order the basics or any of the ingredients that make up the spritzes.
In addition, they offer a selected list of sparkling wines of different types and origins for those who prefer a glass of wine to one of our cocktails. Other than that, there is a small bar menu which is ok if you’re starving. I loved the charcuterie plate, and it pairs perfectly with whatever you drink.
If you are a sweets lover, do not hesitate to try out their tiramisu. It is mouthwatering and flavorful. I recommended allowing enough time to try a classic Aperol Spritz and something new from the menu. The service is hospitable, prompt, and personable. I recommend coming early or getting a reservation, as this spot was busy even on a Sunday.
