Mexican Restaurants in Springfield MO
La Paloma
3014 E. Sunshine St., Springfield, MO 65804, United States // +14177194484
La Paloma is an easy-going restaurant and bar with a wide selection of Mexican meals served in a stylish and modern atmosphere.
At La Paloma, they say that food is their passion. Their dishes are made with the finest and freshest ingredients, indulging your palate and satisfying your appetite.
You owe it to your taste buds to stop by one of their two distinctive locations.
It is a place with a fun and enjoyable atmosphere, efficient and friendly service, and great food.
Flavorful, authentic Mexican cuisine is being served in this venue, along with a variety of drinks. Amazing Margaritas and other beverages are also available.
Their Cheese and Guacamole Dip (made with fresh avocados, diced onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and fresh lime juice) are great appetizers to start off with.

They also offer some great salads and soups. I’d recommend trying their La Paloma Salad, made with grilled chicken and shrimp, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and cucumbers and topped with cheese.
Their Enchiladas and Quesadillas are also amazing, especially the Guanajuato Quesadilla that’s made with two flour tortillas filled with grilled onions, cheese, and your choice of grilled chicken or beef. I’d recommend the beef one. And then, all of this is topped with cheese sauce and served with pico de gallo and rice.
Incredible Fajitas, as well as Fajita Nachos, are also one of the many options on the menu.
One of the standout items here is their Shrimp Tacos, prepared with sauteed shrimp, pico de gallo, and shredded cheese on flour tortillas. This dish is served with rice and creamy chipotle sauce on the side.
And the other wonderful taco flavor is their Tacos de Salmon, made with breaded & grilled salmon with fresh mango salsa and a light chipotle cream sauce on the tortillas.
They also have menu sections dedicated to items made with pork, burritos, vegetarian options, seafood, kids’ menu section, and much more.
So, no matter your preferences, this is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Springfield MO that offers something for every taste and choice.
Los Michoacanos Garcias
1402 W. Sunshine St., Springfield, MO 65807, United States // +14178841266
Situated at Springfield’s busiest junction, Sunshine Street and Glenstone Avenue, where about 70,000 vehicles pass through each day, Los Michoacanos Garcias is a spot you can’t miss.
It is one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants in Springfield MO serving margaritas, tacos, fajitas, and other dishes.
Here, I advise tasting the classic dishes and the street tacos before anything else, which are served with handmade salsa.
The interior is classical Mexican and is fun and colorful, which gives it a nice look.
The place is clean, and the service is fast and good.
Their most popular items are their Cheese Dip and Tacos de Asada, as well as their Quesabirria Tacos. The Quesabirria is three tacos fried in enchilada sauce stuffed with cheese, meat, onion, and cilantro, served with consomme.
Their Pambosos are also an incredible dish made of Bolillo enchiladas stuffed with your choice of red or green tinga or chorizo and potato, along with lettuce, beans, sour cream, and cheese.
The Fajita Taco Salad is another great option to start your meal. It’s made of Fajita-style chicken, beef, or shrimp, and is topped with lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream, served over beans. All of this is served in a fried flour tortilla bowl. Very juicy and flavorful.
From the Caldos, I’d recomend trying the Caldo de Camaron y Mojarra dish, which is a shrimp and tilapia stew with potato and zucchini. It is served with lime and tortillas.
They have the Nachos section featuring Nachos Grande, Nachos Fajitas, and Nachos de Carnitas al Mexicana. All of them are topped with an amazingly creamy cheese dip.
Burritos and Quesadillas are other sections on the menu, from which I’d recommend trying the Burrito California, a carne asada burrito filled with French fries, beans, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese.
They also have sections dedicated to the little ones, so it’s easier for them to choose their food. And there are still many other menu sections such as Chicken Plates, Pork Plates, Steak Plates, a la Carte for the sides, and Desserts.
To finish off the gastronomic experience, order their Sopapilla, which is an incredible mix of sugar, cinnamon, honey, and butter and is served with strawberry or vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
Cesar’s Old Mexico
2627 E. Sunshine St., Springfield, MO 65804, United States // +14178818252
Cesar’s Old Mexico is an authentic and charming storefront cafe serving hearty traditional Salvadoran and Mexican food in Springfield made from scratch with the finest ingredients and vibrant beverages.
They offer something called the 1-2-3 Combo, where you can make up any combination of up to three of the items in the section, which are Tamale, Burrito, Taquito, Chile Relleno, Enchilada, Quesadilla, Taco, and Tostada.
If you go for the classic way of ordering, I’d recommend starting with their incredible, refreshing salads. Try out their Veg Taco Salad, made of grilled veggies, topped with guac, and served on a bed of beans.
Moving forward to the main meals, they have amazing tacos, of which their Authentico Tacos are the best, made with onion, cilantro, guacamole, and your choice of asada (Cesar’s pork, carnitas, birria, adobada, al pastor, chicken lengua, or chorizo).
Pupusas is another interesting Salvadorian dish made with Salvadorian thick cornmeal flatbread, stuffed with your choice of cheese, beans and cheese, or pork and beans and cheese.
And the So-Pusas is a dish where the Mexican cuisine meets the Salvadorian Pupusa, topped with your choice of asada or chicken, lettuce, cotija cheese, Mexican sour cream, and ranchero sauce.
The Beef Rancho Grande is a super-delectable enchilada made with your choice of green tomatillo or ranchero sauce, and their Acapulco Burrito is their best one, made with grilled chicken and shrimp, onion, and tomato, topped with queso sauce and served with rice and guacamole salad on the side.
Finish off the flavorful experience with their Tres Leches Cake or some crispy Churros with a topping of choice!
In regards to the drinks, don’t miss out on their Skinny Margaritas – they are amazing!

Jose Locos is a Springfield Mexican restaurant where traditional Mexican dishes and large margaritas are served in a relaxed environment with vibrant decor.
The interior is very interesting and colorful, with unique tables and chairs.
The atmosphere is nice, and the place is usually packed with customers hungry for the tasty flavors the food in this venue provides.
Starting with the appetizers, their cheese and beef nachos are one of the best choices; crispy, flavorful, and creamy.
Then, if you want to refresh your taste buds, go for a nice salad like their incredible Guacamole Salad, made with fresh shredded lettuce topped with guacamole, or maybe their Tossed Salad, which is super refreshing!
From the lunch specials, I have a few highlight dishes that I want to recommend. They start with the Burrito Goyo, made with ground beef and beans, covered in red and cheese sauces, and served with re-fried beans on the side.
Their Tamale is also great and is served with refried beans, rice, and salad.
Then, from the Dinner Combos section, I’d recommend trying their La Favorita, which is one burrito filled with beef tips, a chicken enchilada, and a guacamole tostada.
The Taquitos Mexicanos are four fried corn tortillas, rolled and filled with chicken or beef and served with fresh salad. Amazing!
Their Chimichanda Asada Dinner is another great full-meal option. It is prepared with carne asada, grilled chicken or shrimp, and served with re-fried beans and tender rice.
The beverages are also incredible and served in a super fun glass and manner. The cocktails are something you should definitely not miss out on. The Margaritas and Bloody Mary’s are like nowhere else.
To finish off your meal with something sweet, get their Xangos Cheesecake-Conga, which is a cheesecake rolled in a tortilla and fried, or their Mama Chulas Flan, a sweet, creamy custard made just like mama’s.

From this section, I’d like to mention a few standouts. First would be their incredible Guacamole Norteno, made of hand-crushed avocado, tomato, onion, serrano, cilantro, chicharron, roasted corn, cotija cheese, pickled onion, lime, and salt. The flavor is immaculate.
Their Fried Calamari is another great dish, made with masa battered tubes and tentacles, chipotle aioli, chile tajin, and lime.

Their El Catrin burrito is a large flour tortilla filled with peppers, onion, tomato, queso, lettuce, pico de gallo, crema, and, of course, guacamole.
Shrimp Stuffed Poblano is the name of one of the best dishes here, jumbo shrimp in poblano pepper, mushroom, zucchini, Monterrey cheese, guajillo crema, and sides of Mexican rice and charro beans.
And then the Catrina Quesadilla is the best one I’ve ever had. A flour tortilla, Monterrey cheese, guajillo crema, lettuce, pico de gallo, crema, guacamole, and Mexican rice. Super creamy and juicy, but also crispy enough for a Quesadilla.
For the sips, there are plenty of options as well. Their Tulum cocktail is a great one, made with gustoso rum, peach cordial, simple syrup, lime, pineapple, angostura bitters, and charred cinnamon.
All in all, Carnitas is one of the locals’ favorite Mexican restaurants in Springfield MO.
