The 17 Best Bogota Colombia Restaurants

Cl. 65 Bis #4-23, Bogotá, Colombia // +573176616866

I just have to start with one of the most incredible dining experiences I’ve had during my gastronomic tour of Bogota, Colombia restaurants.

A chic, luxurious space filled with the tantalizing aromas of the finest Colombian ingredients, all brought to life by a world-renowned chef. Yes, my friends, I’m talking about none other than the famed Leo restaurant!

Nestled in the heart of Bogota, Leo is helmed by the incredibly talented Chef Leonor Espinosa. Trust me when I say this;you’ll want to snag a reservation well in advance because this place is in high demand, and for good reason.

The moment I set foot in this stylish, well-spaced dining room, I knew I was in for a treat.

Leo offers a captivating tasting menu inspired by the rich and diverse Colombian ecosystem. Each dish is a creative, unique, and playful expression of the country’s indigenous ingredients – an absolute delight for the senses.

As a self-proclaimed foodie, I was over the moon to sample a variety of dishes featuring flavors and textures that I may never have the chance to experience again. It indeed was an unforgettable culinary adventure!

Now, I must admit that Leo’s high-concept dining experience may not be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s crucial to do a bit of research beforehand to know what you’re getting into.

But if you’re an adventurous diner with a deep appreciation for the passion and love of Colombian cuisine, you’re in for a phenomenal evening.

Starting off with the pre-meal bread, made from a local Tayrona tree, it was delightfully crunchy and fresh, with a playful bitter twist from the tree bark. And let’s not forget the rich, dominating taste of the anchovy butter—yum!

The first course whisked me away on a sea adventure with four scrumptious bites from four ocean-dwelling critters.

The mussel was a true star, bursting with the taste of the sea and perfectly balanced by a zesty and salty Galerazamba salt foam. The crab dim sum was a soft, salty dream, swimming in a delicious soup.

And that yuca chip albacore sandwich? Oh, the funky ant butter tasted like a party of fermented fruit on my tongue, while the savory bisque with a hint of cilantro powder was simply divine.

Next up, the fish dish was a chewy, jelly-like sensation, elegantly served cold in nutty milk and brought to life by crispy yuca tapioca. Talk about a flavor rollercoaster!

Now, the wrapped cuajada cheese was a fascinating experience. It had a durian-like taste but without the intense aroma.

Paired with a comforting guineafowl soup that reminded me of a warm hug from a bowl of chicken soup, it was then lovingly encased in corn and leafy greens. So unique!

The steak, carved from beneath the shoulder blade, had a tenacious yet tender quality. Its vegetal, leafy flavor, courtesy of the fern garnish and oil, was a different twist on the classic steak experience.

Bogota Colombia Restaurants: Leo Steak

The coconut curry was a delightful surprise, made from small palm tree coconuts processed with the local wildlife. The result? A meatier, slightly grainy texture that paired beautifully with the oh-so-tender goat.

The lamb, cooked in its own juices, was an exquisite morsel, glazed with a sweet jus-like coating and tender enough to melt in your mouth. And that little bit of fat cap? Pure perfection.

Finally, the dessert—a riddle wrapped in a confection! Its collagen-like texture, combined with caramelized brown sugar, exotic nuts, and an enigmatic creamy component, was a heavenly way to end the meal.

To complement the dishes, I opted for the non-alcoholic pairing, which I highly recommend. The variety of unique drinks was not only delicious but also provided sustenance for the three-hour tasting extravaganza.

Plus, the cost of the pairings was quite reasonable compared to ordering individual drinks.

Now, I won’t sugarcoat it—dining at Leo is not cheap. But for a bucket-list-worthy experience like this, I’d say it’s worth every penny!

Leo is a must-visit Bogota restaurant for those looking to tick a truly exceptional dining experience off their foodie bucket list.

So pack your sense of adventure and prepare to be wowed by the culinary wonders of Colombia at this one-of-a-kind Bogota restaurant!

Moving on to the main course, we tried the shelled cob, which instantly became my favorite dish of the night. The combination of ingredients and the play of flavors was simply exquisite.

But let’s not forget about dessert, shall we? The kola ice cream with condensed milk was a delightful surprise, though I must admit, the cocada ice cream stole my heart.

Now, here’s a pro tip; make your reservations in advance! El Casual is a popular spot, and it’s easy to see why.

The service is top-notch, the ambiance is wonderful, and the food—oh, the food—is an irresistible blend of quality, flavor, and value.

They also offer an array of delightful cocktails, like the refreshing corozo, which perfectly complements the dishes. The idea is to share plates, so you can experience a variety of tantalizing flavors.

Also, I highly recommend the chicharrón tacos, which are unlike any tacos you’ve ever had, and the chicken curry—oh, that peanut-infused goodness!

I had the most incredible dining experience right here in Criterión, a top-rated French restaurant in Bogata, which not only exceeded my expectations but also delivered the best meal I had in the city.

Their fantastic service swept me off my feet. Every dish was a symphony of fresh, delicious flavors, and the prompt delivery made the experience even better.

To top it off, we were greeted by the famous Colombian chef and owner, Jorge Rausch, during our visit—a delightful bonus that left me starstruck!

I can’t recommend the chicken breasts foie gras with truffle enough—it was simply divine. The complimentary sourdough bread, served with a heavenly tomato soup starter, only added to the magic.

And, of course, I must rave about the exquisite Leche y Miel dessert that had me swooning with every bite.

Famiglia Pizzeria is not only a haven for mouthwatering pizzas but also a delightful art gallery, creating a unique and unforgettable dining experience.

The owner and his crew made us feel right at home with their warm hospitality and attentive service.

And let me tell you, their fugazzeta pizza, a Buenos Aires specialty loaded with mozzarella and onion, was nothing short of heavenly—a delicious indulgence that had me craving more.

The prices at Famiglia Pizzeria are perfectly in sync with the quality and location. We ordered a fugazza and a “del campo” pizza (large size) for around $30-$35, and both were absolutely delectable.

If you’re a vegetarian, rejoice! This Bogata pizzeria offers an array of veggie-friendly options too.

Accessibility-wise, this charming spot caters to people with reduced mobility, making it an inclusive dining destination. And if you’re worried about parking, there’s a convenient lot just a block away.

The rich, steamy chocolate melds with the thick, gooey cheese, creating an unexpectedly heartwarming treat.

One of the things that makes La Puerta Falsa truly special is the old-world charm that envelops you as you dine.
