A hidden gem of a restaurant in Fredericksburg. We found this place without a plan to go there and we were satisfied with our sudden decision.

It is a great eatery featuring great service, great ambiance, and food that will make you ask about your weights.

You can easily find this place by walking around downtown Fredericksburg. It’s a cute little place with a bar that seats about eight people.

I  had a Schofferhofer grapefruit beer that was very good for starters.

I ordered the pork schnitzel with spaetzle and red cabbage with a brown gravy that was absolutely delicious. We also had pork roll, and my friend had the goulash

For dessert, I had their homemade blueberry cobbler that was so good it was decadent.

For all who want to experience the food without second thoughts, this is the right place for you. It was our first experience with German food, and it was delicious!

1006 Caroline St., Fredericksburg, VA 22401, United States  +15403731352

We had very tasty wine combined with a dessert. It was a great addition to the quality wine.

We had insalata di alona with toasted walnuts, pomegranate seeds, and arugula that was beautiful, fresh, and wonderful. My friend had the Orecchiette Baro with sausage and  broccoli rabe, and a light tomato sauce. We are always in the mood for a pizza, so we shared pizza Torinese with mushrooms, prosciutto, and mozzarella.

This place is definitely not stingy when it comes to the volume of ingredients. One of our group ordered the Calzone Classico with ham, ricotta, mozzarella, a touch of sauce, and fresh basil. It was stuffed with ingredients.

We ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and it had a great sauce. The pork was tender and delicious. The Salmon was so good. The chefs are trained in Germany, and the food is delicious. This is probably the most authentic Bavarian food I have had recently, and I really liked it.

900 Princess Anne St, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, United States // +15404791370

Where do I even begin with FOODE? Nestled in the heart of historic downtown Fredericksburg, this gem opened its doors back in 2011 with a simple yet passionate ethos—community.

You feel it the moment you walk in. The welcoming smiles, rustic ambiance, and that distinct hum of people genuinely enjoying their time.

I sat on their charming patio, although the option to dine inside an old bank vault was pretty tempting too. Yeah, you read that right—an actual bank vault! FOODE calls the Historic National Bank Building its home, adding an extra layer of coolness to the whole experience!

Let’s talk food, shall we? Their farm-to-table American meals are no joke. My friends and I kicked things off with their wings, which were just the right amount of crispy and juicy. For the main event, I had the Duck Two Ways while my friend opted for the Pork Chops. Every bite was an adventure, not to mention the presentation—it was “Top Chef” caliber.

And get this, they also serve breakfast! It’s the ideal spot for that morning business meeting or a breakfast date with someone special. The service? Exceptional. The staff was friendly and attentive, elevating the entire dining experience.

But what really sealed the deal for me was the sense of love poured into everything. They source the best local ingredients and their talented team puts their heart into every dish.

No wonder they’ve grown, even opening a hip sibling spot called Mercantile. If you’re in Fredericksburg, trust me, you don’t want to miss out on FOODE.
