The Peanut Barrel

521 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823, United States // +15173510608

Oh my goodness, have you ever been to The Peanut Barrel in East Lansing? It is the absolute best bar and grill in town – I mean it, THE BEST!

First off, parking is a breeze since it’s located behind the building, and your ticket will be validated by the bar.

As soon as we walked in, we ordered the chili cheese fries, which were deliciously heavy on the chili and light on the cheese – a combo we surprisingly loved!

One thing that really caught our attention was the peanuts they offered for a couple of bucks a bag.

You get to shell them yourself and munch away while you wait for your food. It was such a fun and unique touch!

Now, let’s talk about the burgers. They were fantastic! Everyone in our group ordered something different, and we were all blown away by the taste.

The Peanut Barrel Burger

I went for the olive burger and skipped the tomato and lettuce so I could savor the olives, but honestly, they were so salty and plentiful that I didn’t need anything else.

Of course, with such fantastic food, we couldn’t resist getting some sides. We splurged a couple of bucks extra for fries and potato salad, and let me tell you, it was worth it.

The prices were very reasonable, with burgers averaging $12, fries at $12, and specialty pitchers, including Guinness and cider, for $16.

The seating is self-service, and the place has a very dive bar vibe, but that’s part of what makes it so charming. Our waiter was relaxed but super efficient and helpful, which improved our experience.

Honestly, no trip to East Lansing is complete without stopping by The Peanut Barrel for a delicious meal. Trust me; you won’t regret it!

Mi Sushi & Noodles

3340 E. Lake Lansing Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823, United States // +15178168666

Mi Sushi & Noodles is a small, cheerful restaurant that serves fresh sushi, noodles, and other authentic Japanese dishes.

I was immediately intrigued by the restaurant’s basic style as soon as I came in. The atmosphere was refreshingly simple, allowing the vibrant and colorful food to take center stage. Furthermore, the environment was so cheerful and fun that it was the ideal place to grab a bite with my friends.

Mi Sushi serves a wide range of Japanese foods, including sushi, soups, rice, and curries. They even provide plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, so you won’t feel left out here.

I decided to try the udon veggie soup, and it was an absolute winner. The tempura on the side was perfectly crispy, and the soup itself was so flavorful and comforting.

I also couldn’t resist trying the tempura avocado roll and sweet potato roll, and boy, were they delicious.

Mi Sushi & Noodles Tempura Avocado Roll

My friend opted for the tonkatsu ramen, and while he felt the broth could have been a bit richer, he still enjoyed it overall.

All in all, I highly recommend Mi Sushi & Noodles to anyone looking for some seriously fresh and authentic Japanese cuisine in East Lansing. Don’t just take my word for it, though; give it a try and let me know what you think!

Crunchy’s

254 W. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823, United States // +15173512506

Have you ever heard of a place that’s not much to look at but serves up some of the tastiest burgers in town? Well, that’s Crunchy’s for you! Nestled in East Lansing, this college bar may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but their burgers are something else.

As soon as you step in, you’ll be hit with the vibe of a true college bar. The walls are adorned with MSU posters and signs, and the booths are covered with signatures of former students. It’s not a fancy place, but that’s what makes it so endearing.

Crunchy’s has a lot to offer, including a vast array of starters, buckets of food, salads, tacos, wraps, pizzas, and sandwiches – the options seem endless! But the real star of the show is their Famous Crunchy Burger. Trust me; it’s indescribably delicious.

Crunchy's Burger

They also have quite a few craft beers to choose from, which pair perfectly with your meal. However, we highly recommend against ordering buckets of food, especially if you can afford to pay a little more.

Trust me, the burgers alone are worth it.

Although the place can get quite rowdy at night with fraternity guys chugging beers, the staff are generally used to handling large crowds, so service never really suffers for other patrons that are trying to enjoy a meal.

The only downside is the small parking lot, so make sure to plan accordingly.

In short, if you’re looking for a fancy spot, Crunchy’s is not the place for you. But if you’re looking for delicious burgers and a college bar vibe, then this is the spot.

So what are you waiting for? Head on over to Crunchy’s and indulge in their Famous Crunchy Burger – you won’t regret it!

The brick walls and exquisite décor inside provide a warm and friendly ambiance that will make you feel right at home.

And what about the menu? Ah, the menu! It’s a heartwarming pleasure that will make your taste buds dance with ecstasy.

One thing I love the most about Woody’s Oasis is that they also sell homemade garlic sauce, pita chips, salad dressing, and other items. It’s great to be able to take a bit of their amazing food home with you.

So, I have to tell you about their scallops. Oh my goodness, they were amazing! The flavors were so perfectly balanced that I could barely put my fork down.

Also, Woody’s Oasis offers a range of European and French dishes that are equally delicious.

When I visited Woody’s Oasis, I couldn’t resist trying the spicy chicken shawarma. It was packed with flavor, and the portion size was perfect – I didn’t want to stop eating it!

The rice was perfectly cooked and soaked up all of the beautiful chicken juices. I also got the spicy hummus and Greek salad as sides, and the hummus was incredibly creamy and wonderful.

During my visit, we sat upstairs, and I couldn’t stop gazing at the incredible view outside. Our server was super friendly and efficient, and the food was amazing.

We started off with a grilled cheese, soup, and fries combo, and it was a game-changer.

The grilled cheese was a blend of smoked gouda and Havarti dill cheese that made my taste buds roar. And the roasted pepper soup was smooth and creamy, with a flavor that was on point.

After that, we shared a blue cheeseburger and mac and cheese with bacon; both were heavenly. The blue cheese crumbles in the burger were a nice touch, and the mac and cheese was super tasty.

HopCat Blue Cheeseburger

We were already stuffed, but we couldn’t resist trying Reese’s pie for dessert. Oh my, it was pure heaven on a plate!

The moment I walked in, the atmosphere had me feeling like I was on vacation. The décor was super cute, and the tropical vibes were giving me LIFE. It was like a little slice of Hawaii right in the heart of East Lansing.

Now let’s talk about the food. Holy moly, it was good. My friend and I started with the fried spam musubi and steamed manapua (pork buns), and we were in heaven.

The musubi was like deep-fried sushi with spam, and it was delicious. The pork buns were also super delish and a perfect balance of savory and sweet.

For our main course, my friend had the loco moco with miso soup and kimchi that was out of this world. As for me, I went for the Kalua pig with Portuguese bean soup and a lemon ginger salad. It was like a flavor explosion in my mouth.

Aloha Cookin' Kalua Pig

The Kalua pig was so tender and flavorful, and the bean soup was just the right amount of savory. And that salad; let’s just say I would eat that every day if I could.

But the real star of the show, in my opinion, was the mini malasadas (coconut doughnuts). Oh. My. Goodness.

They were INCREDIBLE. Warm, fluffy, and covered in coconut flakes, they were the perfect end to an amazing meal.

All in all, I would definitely come back to Aloha Cookin’ if I’m ever in the area again. The food felt fresh, the atmosphere was amazing, and the staff was super friendly.

So, if you’re in the mood for some traditional big island cuisine and a tropical escape, I highly suggest you check out Aloha Cookin’. Mahalo!

Georgio's Pizza Calzone

It took a little while to come out, but trust me; the wait was worth it. The stuffed meat lovers’ pizza was also a hit. I was worried that the crust might be too thick, but it was just right.

One thing that really stood out to me about Georgio’s was the crust. It was crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside.

The only item we didn’t like was the breadsticks. These were tasty but didn’t quite hit the mark for us. Perhaps they needed more seasoning or fewer carbs?

The staff at Georgio’s was super friendly and welcoming, too. Maria and the rest of the team made us feel right at home.

So if you’re in the mood for some delicious pizza, head on over to Georgio’s and support this awesome local business. You won’t be disappointed!

But the pièce de résistance? The much-raved-about lima beans! Trust us, these little morsels of deliciousness were so amazing that we couldn’t help but order seconds. And you know what? No regrets!

To wash down our feast, we opted for a black tea infused with cinnamon and clove—a superb choice, if we do say so ourselves.

The menu at Harrison Roadhouse is vast but approachable. And the food quality? Absolutely top-tier.

I went for the “Holy Harrison,” a burger so delectable that I’m pretty sure it was sent from the heavens. Cooked to sheer perfection, it came loaded with American cheese, deluxe toppings, and a pile of drool-worthy ham.

I couldn’t resist upgrading to sweet potato fries, served with an ambrosial sweet, sour cream for dipping. Even the humble pickle made its presence known with a satisfying crunch.

My prime beef dip aficionado friend couldn’t help but rave about the “Roadie Dip.” She was over the moon about the fact that the meat was cooked more well done – a true rarity in the world of beef dips.
