Day 1: Arrival in Mérida
Your journey begins with a warm welcome in Mérida. You’ll be greeted at the airport and transferred to your accommodation, where a stylish room awaits.
Savor a carefully curated dinner in an elegant venue on the renowned Paseo de Montejo, one of Mexico’s most breathtaking avenues, setting the perfect tone for your journey.

Day 2: Discovering Mérida
Kick off your morning with a distinctive breakfast tour through Mérida’s lively markets, followed by a guided exploration of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods, with ample photo opportunities and a visit to Mérida’s beloved ice cream shop!
Return to the hotel to enjoy some downtime before setting off on a cantina tour of the city—exploring the city’s most popular watering holes along with hidden gems known only to locals, sampling Yucatecan botanas (small snacks served with drinks), a cherished local custom.
Day 3: Uxmal and Ancestral Mayan Experience
Begin your day by visiting a world-renowned street food vendor, featured on Netflix and ranked among Taste Atlas’s top 10 globally, to indulge in lechón and cochinita pibil—recently crowned the world’s best dish.
Journey to the ancient ruins of Uxmal, guided by a local expert who will bring history to life. Relish an authentic Mayan lunch and dive into an exclusive Pibil (Mayan underground cooking) workshop.
Return to Mérida for dinner in one of the most authentic local markets.

Day 4: Exploring Homún, Izamal and Valladolid
Check out of the hotel and head to Homun for a swim in its stunning cenotes, followed by a genuine local meal at Izamal’s acclaimed restaurant, consistently ranked among Mexico’s best for five consecutive years, where you’ll sample rare dishes not commonly found elsewhere in Yucatán.
After exploring the enchanting “Yellow City” of Izamal and its iconic yellow convent, we’ll head to Valladolid to settle into your charming boutique hotel. End the day with a rooftop dinner and a complimentary welcome drink.
Day 5: Discovering Chichen Itzá and Valladolid
Our day begins early with a visit to one of the Seven Wonders of the New World—Chichen Itzá—followed by a cooking demonstration and a hearty lunch with a local Mayan family.
Return to Valladolid for an afternoon of relaxation at our luxury hotel before setting off on a walking tour of the city.
That evening, gather with the group at an exquisite restaurant in the heart of the main square, where the flavors of the region come to life.

Day 6: Rio Lagartos Biosphera and Mérida
Today, we delve into Yucatán’s hidden natural treasures with a trip to Rio Lagartos—discovering secluded beaches and exploring mangroves before enjoying a fresh seafood lunch at a picturesque beachfront eatery.
Afterward, we return to Mérida for a fun night out at a vibrant local restaurant, followed by an optional bar and speakeasy tour for those who wish to continue the adventure.
Day 7: Historical Hacienda Visit and Farewell Dinner
Start the day by sampling huevos motuleños (an emblematic Yucatecan dish) at the actual restaurant that first created this famous plate!
Then, we’ll visit a historic colonial ex-hacienda, including a cenote truck tour and a traditional lunch.
Next, we will visit a Meliponario to learn about and taste the world’s finest honey, produced by Yucatán’s stingless bees—a rare treat with a flavor unlike any other.
We will return to Mérida to relax and get ready for our farewell dinner at one of Mexico’s most celebrated restaurants, previously hailed as the most beautiful dining spot in the world by UNESCO.

Hey there! I’m

From the first time I visited Yucatán in 2017, I knew it was different, special. The friendly people, the stunning architecture, the magical cenotes and of course, the unique gastronomy. I love it so much that I even convinced my mom to retire in Mérida!
I’ve returned year after year, finding new places, restaurants, and vendors that I’m so excited to share with you!
We have put so much thought into this itinerary – this plan showcases the best of the best so that you’ll leave as in love with this unique part of México as I am.

I’m Russel González
From Mérida and I love food, wine, distillates, Yucatán and México.
I’ve lived in Mérida all my life, but I’ve traveled to many towns of Mexico and some countries around the world. I have a company that offers digital services from the cloud, for more than 15 years. I generate content on social media in “Experiencer”, where I write reviews of restaurants, bars, gastronomic experiences, tourism, culture of Mérida and Mexico. I’m currently in training for an international certification to be a Sommelier.
My parents are retired teachers. My mom’s school was in a mayan town called Ucú, near Mérida and used to be open in the afternoons. When I was little, I loved going with her to her work after school. I was a friend of the children and many mayan families. Although I lived in the City of Mérida, I grew up knowing and respecting the traditions of indigenous Mayan communities all my life.
Many Yucatecans say “I’m not Mexican, I’m Yucatecan.” And I don’t blame them, the history of Mexico is beautiful, but Yucatán does not figure in that history. For this reason, in general the Mayan culture is a bit unknown and misinformed with wrong perspectives. I admire the culture of other parts of the world and I love the culture of Mexico, but also, I want to share the richness of my region with open-hearted people who love adventure and mysticism, enjoying ancestral dishes, photographing colorful towns, visiting Haciendas that are the “Palaces of Yucatán”, swimming in the fresh waters of the cenotes, visiting archaeological ruins and admiring the architecture of the City.
