Canggu was my favorite city in Bali, and the incredible foodie scene had a lot to do with that. As a surfing community, it was no surprise many Canggu restaurants focused on healthy options with locally sourced ingredients. The beach town is packed full of trendy (dare I say hipster?) eateries, here are my favorites.
Best Canggu Restaurants:
Rosmarina Bottega Italiana
Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.77 // +62 822-3611-1011
I was genuinely surprised to find such amazing, authentic Italian food in an Indonesian beach town. The freshest ingredients, simple plates, classic techniques — this is why Rosmarina is so phenomenal.
One of my favorite dishes was the signature salad. Quinoa and lentils, mixed veggies and crunchy seeds were drizzled with EVOO to make the perfect light lunch, or, in my case, a huge starter.
When I found out the pasta was made fresh and in-house, I knew I had to try it. It was literally perfect. Generous portions of al dente pasta bathed in your choice of classic sauces.
Nude
Jl. Pantai Berawa // +62-852-3821-4003
When I was first told the menu at Nude featured a large selection of raw food, I was hesitant. But do not fear — not all of their menu is raw. They also make a great burger and have several varieties to choose from.
Make sure to check out the pork belly burger with Asian slaw. I love the charcoal buns they use on their burgers. Don’t be put off by a black bun — it really is delicious.
Bro Resto
34 Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong // +62 813-3966-3654
I luckily stumbled upon this French/Chinese fusion restaurant while looking for lunch one afternoon. The menu is full of interesting options, but I was sold when I saw the steamed dumplings. I’m addicted to dumplings, and these did not disappoint.
I also had the amazing slow cooked potato ribs. This huge portion of slow braised Chinese spiced pork ribs were so delicious, but also filling. The potatoes, soaked in the broth, were fork tender but full of flavor.
Crate
Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.64 // +62 812-3894-3040
Easily my favorite breakfast spot in town, Crate shouldn’t be missed. The place is packed every morning, and the entire menu looks phenomenal. Many of the choices were healthy options, but you could also find bacon and French toast on the menu. Make sure to check out their freshly made smoothies too.

Lacalita Bar y Cocina
Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong No.68 // +62 822-4731-2217
No surprise here– I was on a mission to find Mexican food. Lacalita is the sister restaurant of the wildly popular Lacalaca in Seminyak. The eatery is brightly decorated, and the menu is full of fresh, authentic Mexican dishes.
The menu had a lot of interesting choices, including short rib burgers and beef short ribs, but I was craving tacos when I went. Not pictured: either of the jalapeño infused tequila margaritas I washed these down with.
Milk & Madu
Jalan Pantai Berawa No. 52 // +62-851-0278-1872
I could have easily eaten at Milk & Madu everyday. They make leaving difficult with multiple menus throughout the day. The breakfast and lunch menu gives way to an evening menu starting every night at 5pm.
We started off by snacking on these crostini while we waited for the menu to change.
Our wait was rewarded with this crispy pork belly dish, which did not disappoint.
Macan Cafe
Jl. Raya Pantai Berawa No.14 // +62-812-3800-9970
When the waitress delivered my order at Macan Cafe, I wondered if it I was allowed to declare the first restaurant in town that you try as your favorite. The entire menu looks amazing, and this was seriously the best burger I’d had in forever.
Ruko Cafe
Jl. Pantai Berawa No. 99 // +62 812-3967-3077
Ruko Cafe is situated near the entrance to Berawa Beach. The menu has great brunch items, such as a pulled pork benedict and avocado toast.
The lunch menu featured burgers, wraps and salad bowls. I (wisely) chose to add a side of polenta fries to my chicken burger.

All the photos of delicious food makes crave for some. I don't eat pork but that Black Super Burger does make a pretty picture.

These places all look great! I'm intrigued by the French/Chinese fusion place and I am partial to the black brioche bun every now and then (they've been around in Melbourne for a while) - but I'd probably prefer to have chicken as the protein, I'm not a big fan of pork.

Great list of restaurants. That quinoa salad at Rosmarina Bottega looks delicious. I’d probably be too full to have an entree. Love that their pasta is made in house. Definitely adding it to my list of places to eat at. I’m not sure I’d like the charcoal bun from Nude. But those muscles from Little Flinders Cafe look good.

I was pretty full after the salad-- it's definitely enough to have as a lunch by itself. It's really light but full of flavor. The charcoal bun is actually really good. It didn't have a funky taste at all.
