The 10 Best Italian Restaurants In Nashville, TN

Sharing is caring!

People believe that the stomach is the gateway to a person’s heart. Italy is aware of this. That explains why, keto diet and all, no one can get enough of their heart-warming, soul-satisfying platters of spaghetti bliss.

Regarding the universally adored comfort food, it’s safe to assume that Italians have the market covered.

The Italian food scene in Nashville is thriving and growing. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a quick lunch or a night out with friends. From small mom-and-pop restaurants to trendy upscale eateries and beyond, here are ten of the best Italian restaurants in town.

10 Best Italian Restaurants In Nashville

Amerigo Italian Restaurant

1920 West End Ave., Nashville, TN 37203,  United States // +16153201740

Casual and lively Amerigo, a local favorite, takes pleasure in offering some of the best and most cutting-edge Italian cuisines in the Nashville area.

Make no mistake, the upmarket cuisine at this regional brand is unmistakably Italian, despite the brighter and more contemporary ambiance than at the typical Italian ristorantes.

Everything from classic spaghetti and pizza dishes to more contemporary grilled fish and vegetarian selections is available on the menu.

Despite the growing number of Italian restaurants in the area that are competing with Amerigo, residents keep coming back because it is warm and inviting and offers pleasant yet competent service.

We enjoyed every mouthful. Not a single bite of the starter bread, calamari, or baked artichoke dip was left. My friend had the Gorgonzola steak while I ordered the fettucine with Imperial Alfredo. The meal also included a Caesar salad.

We raved about how great everything we ordered was. We shared a Tiramisu to end. The servings were generous. We had extras that we could eat later.

We had to wait a short while between meals because it was so busy, but it provided us time to chat. The waiter juggled numerous tables while managing everything. It was an excellent encounter. I’m a big fan of this eatery! It’s a one of a kind find amongst the Italian restaurants In Nashville.

Trattoria Il Mulino

144 Rep. John Lewis Way S., Nashville, TN 37203, United States // +16156203700

This upmarket Italian restaurant with locations in New York and Nashville lives up to its reputation with faultless service and beautifully prepared food.

The calamari picante is a good place to start, then move on to the goat cheese ravioli or the fettuccini with Parmesan cream sauce.

Trattoria Il Mulino Calamari

For those who avoid pasta, the filet is another standout. Finally, consider the warm brioche budino with the grappa-soaked raisins as your final course.

The Trattoria is a great choice whether you’re celebrating, going out on a date, or just getting a drink or appetizer at the bar.

We made a reservation online for a Tuesday night, and it appeared that finding a table would not be difficult. However, if you have a specific date or time in mind, I would advise booking a reservation to be safe.

Maggiano’s Little Italy

3106 West End Ave., Nashville, TN 37203, United States // +16155140270

Nashville’s undiscovered gem was this restaurant, tucked somewhere behind some business structures and large trees. Some of the tastiest Italian food I’ve ever tasted is served here, and the prices are incredibly fair. You may enjoy an unlimited family-style meal there, and they offer a fantastic assortment of wines. The views from this structure are likewise quite good.

There was no wait when we got in and were seated. The interior design was stunning and opulent, with portraits covering the entire room. Unlike other Italian chains, Maggiano’s has a genuine Italian atmosphere.

There were many meal options on the vast menu, some of which I hadn’t seen since I had taken that one-way corporate relocation from the East Coast.

The menu’s selection of specialty bruschetta appetizers in various flavors stood out as particularly distinctive. First, we split a typical bruschetta appetizer, which was excellent. It included olives, tomatoes, and olive oil on wedges of toast.

They offer a wide variety of international wines, Italian beer, and specialty cocktails. The Pinot Noir was excellent when I tried it.

The crew took delight in their work and was polite and informed. My glasses were always refilled without asking, and I had complete control over the food and the conversation.

The zucchini is a great appetizer, in my opinion. The Italian ranch dressing begins a disco in your tongue, and the breading is flawless. I always use Eggplant Parmesan as a litmus test for Italian food, so I was surprised to discover that theirs was the greatest I’ve ever had.

Maggiano's Little Italy Eggplant Parmesan

The tiered pasta mixtures, cooked from scratch using only fresh ingredients, had my taste buds dancing.

My mouth was watering from the delicious butter cake and strawberries with cream for dessert. The cost was very low, considering the excellent dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this gem amongst the Italian restaurants in Nashville. I have eaten in many other countries, and this one is worthwhile.

Valentino’s Ristorante

1808 Hayes St., Nashville, TN 37203, United States // +16153270148

This Midtown institution has been feeding the residents’ appetites with authentic Italian fare for more than 25 years, despite moving from West End to Hayes Street. Think homemade lasagna with bucatini, cioppino, and wild boar bolognese.

On a Monday evening, we had reservations, so we arrived just when they opened at 5 PM. There was no overcrowding. Since it had been raining and looked like it might again, we decided to eat inside rather than on their wonderful patio.

We shared a burrata-topped Caprese salad. It was incredible. Although perhaps a bit more balsamic vinegar would have been nice. I ordered the veal saltimbocca with roasted potatoes and sautéed spinach. Again, very good.

My friend ordered the Osso Bucco, which came in a sizable piece and was quite delicate. And in the end, we washed it all down with a wonderful bottle of Barbera d’Asti.

A wonderful evening in a top-notch eatery amongst the Italian restaurants in Nashville. The location is fantastic, it’s simple to find, and there is lots of parking. Do not miss out!

City House

1222 4th Ave. N., Nashville, TN 37208, United States // +16157365838

City House, which is located in Germantown, is a culinary delight for fans of gourmet dining, pizza, and pasta in Music City. With appetizers like n octopus with eggplant, tomato, garlic, basil, chilies, peanuts, and raisins, City House will treat you well whether you have a seasoned palette or are looking for an exceptional lunch.

It’s simple to feel good about entering their doors thanks to James Beard nominated chef Tandy Wilson’s mission to employ local ingredients.

The structure was physically converted from a house. As a result, it appears odd from the outside. But after coming in through the side entrance, we didn’t waste any time getting to our table on the screened-in porch. The rest of the establishment is more conventional, with a sizable dining area and a classy bar.

Both the ricotta pizza with fresh arugula and the starter of broccoli rabe and white beans that we got were delicious. Rigatoni and sour corn cake for the main course was equally fantastic.

Everything that our server recommended, including the wine, was excellent. The cherry on top was the most wonderful cake with strawberry and masapan topping. The finest cake I’ve ever eaten. If you decide to eat here, you won’t be disappointed! It’s one of the best Italian restaurants In Nashville.

Caffe Nonna

4427 Murphy Rd., Nashville, TN 37209, United States // +16154630133

With the traditional dishes of his grandmother (called Nonna), chef Daniel Maggipinto has been delighting diners at this Sylvan Park restaurant for years and has been revered by locals as one of the best Italian restaurants In Nashville.

Family-run Café Nonna is a restaurant. The owner is frantically running around, ensuring everything is going as it should.

This is not a big, franchised restaurant in a strip mall. As you sit in the dining room, you can observe what is happening in the kitchen. In my opinion, I like that. I want to know who is preparing my meal.

The majority of the meals are made using his grandmother Nonna’s traditional family recipes, and just one visit will be enough to make you fall in love with the cozy and delectable dishes pouring out of the tiny kitchen.

Arancini and a robust Tuscan bean soup are offered as starters, while mussels, either fra Diavolo or in Apulia style with a saffron-tomato broth, are presented as the main course.

Caffe Nonna fra Diavolo

A build-your-own pasta plate option is also available, including rigatoni, gnocchi, and risotto with a variety of sauces, meats, vegetables, and cheeses to top.

Plan a trip to the Sylvan Park neighborhood if you are a tourist or a local of Nashville to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine at Café Nonna in a welcoming environment.

Moto

1120 McGavock St., Nashville, TN 37203, United States // +16157365305

Any local will tell you that this Gulch date night contender is among their top three favorite Italian restaurants in Nashville.

The slick midcentury contemporary decor, stealthy wraparound booths, and cozy lighted glow nearly guarantee its place on those lists, so it is no surprise.

The Heritage pork chop and black spaghetti with lobster ragu on the menu demonstrate that Moto has both substance and style.

Moto Black Spaghetti

Our server was excellent at explaining the wines and cocktails and never misled us. And one of the chefs suggested and described each course.

The team’s expertise astounded us, and we were delighted with the octopus, mussels, meatballs, and black spaghetti.

Even the simple combination of olive oil, black pepper, and bread was preferable to the food most restaurants serve. The service was outstanding! A delightful experience!

Bella Napoli Pizzeria

1200 Villa Pl. #206, Nashville, TN 37212, United States // +16155514597

Although Bella Napoli is famous for its perfectly blistered pies with Italian ingredients, its pasta menu is equally enticing.

This authentic Italian gem amongst the Italian restaurants In Nashville offers high standards of authenticity at fair costs in a basic yet welcoming setting.

The house salad was simple but of the highest caliber and came with a lovely balsamic dressing. The pizza from the wood-burning pizza oven was also fantastic. They also have great beer on tap.

Bella Napoli Pizzeria Pizza

The staff was nice and helpful, and the food was honest and genuine. Absolutely worthwhile to seek out.

IL Forno

1414 3rd Ave. S., Nashville, TN 37210, United States // +16157396713

The well-liked mobile pizzeria of chef Egidio Franciosa and his business partner Jannah Franciosa has opened a permanent location in Wedgewood-Houston.

It offers Neapolitan-style pies like the diavola topped with Pomodoro, fior de latte, and Calabrese salami.

However, pizza isn’t the only item on the menu. Additionally, they provide wonderful antipasto spreads, carpaccio, and pasta dishes like bucatini with wild-caught octopus ragu and cherry tomatoes.

We shared the excellent fresella as an appetizer. My friend and I chose the fettuccine as our entrees after our server suggested it. I can see why he suggested them since they were both delicious.

IL Forno Fettuccine

We chose the torta della Zia for dessert. “Two chocolate cupcakes with whipped frosting,” the waitress said. It was pleasant and rather reviving.

Excellent service was provided. Our waitress was exceptionally nice and helpful. Additionally, her suggestions were much valued. Our lunch arrived promptly, and it appeared that the restaurant operated like a well-oiled machine. I advise trying this eatery first, before going for the rest of the Italian restaurants In Nashville.

Yolan

403 4th Ave. S., Nashville, TN 37201, United States // +16152310405

When this husband-and-wife culinary dynamo relocated to Nashville, the city won big. Tony Mantuano, a James Beard Award-winning chef, and Cathy Mantuano, a wine and hospitality expert, provided Nashville with a fine dining Italian menu, exceptional service, and a pleasant setting inside the new Joseph Hotel.

The service was outstanding.  Each table had two employees allocated to it. They were friendly, well-versed in the menu, and attentive without being invasive.

My friend ordered the five-course tasting menu. I decided to eat tilefish, shrimp risotto, and foie gras. His mouthwatering dinner was comprised of rabbit, pesto Genovese, tilefish, and shrimp risotto.

Yolan Shrimp Risotto

Everything had the ideal seasoning. Unfortunately, the pesto Genovese was the only dish that didn’t impress. While the dish was tasty, it fell short of our expectations because we couldn’t taste the walnut undertones.

The shrimp risotto was excellent. The risotto and the deep sea shrimp were lighter than normal. Additionally excellent was the fish. White, flaky, and cooked to perfection. The delicate flavor was made possible by the harmony of the corn and truffle.

Last but not least, the dessert of Blueberry Sweet Pea was superb. I was so enamored with it that I searched up sweet peas and discovered that the leaves are edible, but the seeds are poisonous.

We felt no negative effects and appreciated it; therefore, I think the flower or leaves were used. I’m looking forward to returning to try the menu for the upcoming season. It’s a good idea for you to do so as well!  A great find amongst the Italian restaurants In Nashville for fine Italian dining in Nashville.
