Located just 30 kilometers from the busy downtown of Chiang Mai, is the Panviman Spa Resort. The Panviman is situated on the side of a small but ridiculously gorgeous mountain and is known as “heaven in the hills”.
I recently visited the property to spend a few days and was ready to return before I had even left.
The Panviman is huge; a sprawling complex that includes a pool and fitness area, the main hotel, the spa and the villas. The property is so large, that instead of walking around, you can call and have a golf cart bring you anywhere you’d like to go. Who wouldn’t want that?!
There is also a games and entertainment area that has pool tables, a giant chess set and other outdoor activities you can do. The architecture of The Panviman is done in a contemporary Thai style (a combination of Ayuthaya and Lanna (northern Thai) styles). The resulting combination is a clean, modern look.
I was fortunate enough to stay in one of the private spa villas. The room is bigger than my apartment and so gorgeous. Hardwood floors, a large private balcony, a rain shower, and best of all, a private hot tub; all this was mine for the weekend.
The doors from the bedroom and the bathroom opened directly onto the balcony. It was so relaxing and peaceful, I was able to get caught up on some work before soaking in the hot tub.
I took my laptop to the pool to try to get caught up on some emails which was basically pointless. The pool was way too gorgeous for me to try and get any work done. But this wasn’t the only pool there! There was actually two additional pools, and a soaking tub which has an incredible view of the main building. Not only is there wifi, but you can order food from the restaurant and have it delivered right to your chair. There are definitely worse ways to spend an afternoon!
The Panviman Spa is an award winning spa, taking top honors in 2013 and placing again more recently. I spent an afternoon at the spa and it’s no wonder they are ranked so highly. The spa facilities are separate from the main hotel, so a golf cart whisked me from my room to my appointment. This was seriously one of the most gorgeous facilities I’d ever seen.
I signed up for a 90 minute oil massage with the Detox oil– I highly recommend this. I’ve never been so relaxed after a massage. When you visit the Panviman make sure to book a spa appointment; it’s well worth your time. The spa area sits on a small lake adjacent to the main property– check out the walk to the massage rooms. How gorgeous is this?
Not surprisingly, for me the highlight will usually be the food, and the Panviman did not disappoint. From the fruit basket I was sent when I checked in, to the fried salmon snack I had delivered to my room to the dinner I shared with the hotel manager Charles, everything was first class. When you visit the Panviman make sure to try the homemade jams on the breakfast buffet. They’re so good I bought several as gifts. Try the Roselle, it was everyone’s favorite.
