The Coron Soleil Garden Resort is a brand new four-star resort on the gorgeous island of Coron. The property is located at the base of Mount Tapyas, the highest peak of the island.
The hotel has a contemporary Filipino inspired design with a focus on highlighting the surrounding nature. The attention to detail throughout the property is quite impressive. In fact, the hotel was so nice that we had trouble wanting to leave and explore the island.
The hotel features twenty seven rooms. I stayed in s large, comfortable and stylish poolside one.
Speaking of the pool, this may have been my favorite part of the resort. The pool is huge. It’s the centerpiece of the resort, and I spent much of my time lounging around it while trying unsuccessfully to get work done. During the day fountains spray over the water, and by night the pool is illuminated with a series of changing colors.
Attendants were on hand throughout the day to bring fresh towels, drinks and even food to your sun bed. The service at the Coron Soleil Garden Resort is truly exceptional. Staff members are incredibly friendly and always around to help.
I’m obviously always going to be be excited about the food wherever I am, and the Coron Soleil Garden Resort did not disappoint. The restaurant offers both American and Filipino style breakfast choices.
When I heard the Filipino style breakfast included fried fish, I was initially hesitant. But, I reluctantly let the manager talk me into trying it, and I was happily proven wrong. It was so delicious! Crispy, light, and not heavy at all.
We were also invited to dinner at the resort. The chef sent plate after plate of amazing food from the kitchen. It was hard to choose a favorite, but if I had to, I lean towards the ceviche with grilled pork belly or BBQ ribs.
My friend favored the dessert, this delicious chocolate cake:
Make sure to stop by the bar either before or after dinner to have the bartender make you your favorite cocktail. The bar features a menu of unique and interesting drinks.

Travel writer and owner of the blog. My work has been featured on Fodors, Eater.com, International Living, and Great Escape Publishing, among many others. My story? Nearly six years ago, I left my job at an Oklahoma City law firm and embarked on a journey around the world. At the time, I thought I would only be gone for 6 months, but the more I traveled, the longer my bucket list became. Flashpacker describes how I travel. Rather than traveling as the normal world wise backpacker and staying in hostel dorms, I prefer a more comfortable experience, and typically stay in private rooms, take Ubers instead of taxis, and now use a suitcase instead of a backpack. Foodie, on the other hand, describes one of the key reasons why I travel. I love to pick a central “base camp” and then explore the surrounding area, really immersing myself in the culture and interacting with the people, and enjoying and exploring the food of an area is an essential part of this experience.
