The Akyra Manor is a stylish luxury boutique hotel located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I love the concept of the property- each suite is created around a courtyard within a room concept, which means, immediately upon entering the room, I was greeted with this view:
That’s right- my own huge, private outdoor bathtub on the terrace.
The property is located in my favorite area of Chiang Mai- Nimmanhaemin. Everything you could need or want is located in this trendy part of town.
Keeping with the theme of its trendy neighborhood, the Akyra Manor is a super modern and sophisticated property with a young contemporary vibe found throughout, even in the smallest details.
The Akyra Manor only contains thirty rooms, which means there is a high staff to guests ratio, ensuring all of your needs are met. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and I enjoyed all of the personal touches they incorporated into my stay.
There is, for example, a pillow menu located in each room, a drink of the day delivered each evening, and you can even choose to have your bed spritzed down with your choice of aromatic sprays to help you sleep!
The rooftop pool
But my favorite feature of the hotel is their stunning rooftop infinity pool, which overlooks the city. Check it out:
Every evening, my friends and I would meet for happy hour on the rooftop to have cocktails and watch the sunset. From 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., all cocktails and local beers are buy one get one free.
Our happy hour drink purchases also included complimentary snacks.
So, every night during my stay, happy hour looked something like this:
Dining at the Akyra Manor
Not only is the hotel one of the best in Chiang Mai, but the ground level of the property also features Italics, the best Italian restaurant in town. The dining area is as trendy and stylish as the rest of the hotel.
Italics is open to the public and not just for guests of the hotel.
Breakfast is also included in your stay at the Akyra Manor. The menu features both Western and local choices, and you can order not one, but two choices from their extensive menu.
Some of my favorite items were the salmon eggs benedict.
And also a local egg dish served sizzling in a cast iron pan:
But, my favorite dish of all was the savory waffle with a fried egg and bacon. When you visit, make sure to try this dish first.
The Akyra Manor hotel is the perfect choice for your time in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I love the vibe, the friendly staff, the expansive menu, and especially the rooftop pool. I’ll likely return, if only for another happy hour on their rooftop.

Travel writer and owner of the blog. My work has been featured on Fodors, Eater.com, International Living, and Great Escape Publishing, among many others. My story? Nearly six years ago, I left my job at an Oklahoma City law firm and embarked on a journey around the world. At the time, I thought I would only be gone for 6 months, but the more I traveled, the longer my bucket list became. Flashpacker describes how I travel. Rather than traveling as the normal world wise backpacker and staying in hostel dorms, I prefer a more comfortable experience, and typically stay in private rooms, take Ubers instead of taxis, and now use a suitcase instead of a backpack. Foodie, on the other hand, describes one of the key reasons why I travel. I love to pick a central “base camp” and then explore the surrounding area, really immersing myself in the culture and interacting with the people, and enjoying and exploring the food of an area is an essential part of this experience.
